Bus Falls Onto 110 Freeway From Downtown Los Angeles Bridge; No One Hurt
Crazy story. Unfortunately for us, it didn't end up going down quite like that.
Here's what the LAPD told the Weekly really happened about 10:08 a.m. on the Sixth Street bridge, and on the northbound 110 collector road beneath it, downtown today:
The Montebello Bus Lines coach broke down on the bridge and a supervisor drove over in a car to help, LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman said.
The supervisor reached in to start the bus, which apparently released its brakes, causing it to roll backward into and through a guardrail before landing on the freeway collector road below, she said.
The Montebello Bus Lines boss was not inside, and neither was anyone else, fortunately, so no injuries were reported. No other vehicles were hit, either.
"Luckily no one was hurt," CHP Officer Charmaine Fajardo told us
But ... the Third and Fourth street exits from the northbound 110 remained blocked this afternoon.
