DUI Checkpoints in Downtown Los Angeles, Studio City

One of them is near Staples Center and the other is in Studio City. While we sometimes question the department's placement of such dragnets (they never seem to happen in L.A.'s wealthier enclaves), we give the cops credit for this much:
At least they're warning you:
-Checkpoint numero uno happens tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Ventura Boulevard between Blue Canyon Drive and Colfax Avenue in Studio City:
-The other checkpoint happens Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Figueroa Street between Eighth and Ninth streets downtown, near Staples Center. (Clearing out the drunks before Sunday's Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theater, perhaps?).
There you go. Avoid the area. Or better yet, as the police rightly hope, don't drink and drive.
