Aaron Sandusky.
We called him a brave man. And that he was. Aaron Sandusky, cannabis dispensary operator, is probably going to federal prison to atone for your medical marijuana sins.

Over the weekend the 42-year-old was convicted by a federal jury of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana plants, possession of pot with intent to distribute, and maintaining a drug-involved premises, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in L.A.

Basically, he was running a Southern California pot shop. The damage?

Ten years minimum, with "a maximum possible sentence of life in prison," according to prosecutors.

Yep. In a case where co-defendants took plea deals, Sandusky fought the law with the support of the medical marijuana community.

Sandusky was involved with the operation of three dispensaries under the G3 Holistics banner in the Inland Empire. His Upland shop was at the center of the case against him. It was raided by feds in November and he and five other defendants were hauled into court to face charges.

Sandusky knew that federal courts don't allow the legality of medical pot in California as a defense (marijuana is still a "schedule I" outlaw drug to feds), but he decided to go to trial anyway.

The jury found that, contrary to his supporters' claims, Sandusky's case involved "at least" 1,000 plants, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The jury could not come to a consensus on four of the counts, of "maintaining drug-involved premises at each of G3's marijuana stores in Upland, Colton, and Moreno Valley, as well as G3's marijuana grow operation in Ontario," and a mistrial was declared for those, prosecutors stated.

The group Americans for Safe Access said last week that feds, who have vowed to crack down on medical marijuana in California (and who have been following through on that threat), were making an example of Sandusky:

This trial is nothing more than a cynical attempt by the federal government to intimidate dispensary operators in Los Angeles and undermine the implementation of California's medical marijuana law.

Sandusky was put behind bars until sentencing, which was scheduled for Jan. 7.

3 more people signed petition in time it took me to type my other post. One of the most FACTUAL benefits of marijuana legalization is that it PROVES THE POWER OF PEOPLE WHO VOTE, WHO CHECK THAT BOX, WHO SIGN THAT PETITION. Abe Lincoln ran for pres cuz the north decided not to let the south come into their towns and drag their freed neighbors down their streets and back into cages. Now, they're trying to cage our freed neighbors, dragging them out in2 the streets.

Ok so he has a local STATE License to grow & dispense, that he paid for so he is good with the state but the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT comes in and arrests him.  How does that happen?  If that is in fact what happened??

Its a conspiracy to fish fry all Sandusky's.........Cant help but wonder why they seemed to feel bad about the pedophile, like he committed crimes he couldnt help. Then criminalize this small time weed pusher as a fucking Tony Montana and give him life. Obama has photos getting stoned but will not decriminalize the plant that got him where he is by expanding his mental capacity, of course. How can they over-ride state law anyways? What's the purpose of having state level laws then? I need to stop acting like I dont know why, but this shit still and always will piss me off to smoke even more......Fuck anybody or law that says I cant.............(COUGH-GAG-HACK-HACK-COUGH-COUGH-breath..............COUGH-cough-hack&spit) What was I saying? Oh yeah, Romney is gay for real..........

This is horrible, the most disgusting thing right now, How can you punish a person for doing for the ill, He didn't hurt any one or cause bodily injury or harm, there is no way this man should or could get life, in god we trust right, the judge should go ready our constitutional rights, something he should know by heart, and follow them, trying to take every bit of deference from this man is a sin in it's self, the judge is doing more harm then mr.Sandusky has ever done.

S-t! This is unconscionable. How can this happen? The pot-shop culture is a product of the politicians and law-makers. It is the only way to overcome the criminal cartels... WTF are they thinking??? Overstepping boundaries of common sense. That is the Federal Government. Outrageous!

Governments pull this crap all the time... ignore mandates voted by people. I could care less about pot. But think people should be cautious being mixed up in his exact situation between federal and state law. Federal Law trumps every time. Paltry citizens thinking they have rights to anything... ha. Just wait till all this pot growing does get legalized and the corporations edge all the wide eyed optimists out of the game... that's another thing that happens in America. It doesn't matter what I think about the guys sentence time, what matters is he knew the score and picked the fight.

Jeff, your right, but The Sheriff would lose Fed funding if they did. This is ridiculous beyond sanity. Decriminalization needs to happen soon in CA. Three other states are going to soon. Since when did the Fed get more power than the States? Rhetorical question... look it up. Lobbyists and coorporations run our free country...

Again, the State rejecting much-needed tax income for the sake of imprisoning its otherwise law-abiding citizens. We need a new Governor.
