A college student says LAPD officers beat him and tased him after he was stopped in 2010 on a Hollywood street for drinking in public, according to CBS Los Angeles.

Abagabe Ohgogo and his attorney have filed suit against the department and provided to the station security video from a nearby nightclub that depicts two and then a whole gang of officers piling on the young man and using fists and at least one baton.

The confrontation happened ...

... Oct. 22, 2010.

Ohgogo, whom CBS says did not have a criminal record, says "everything went south" after the two officers burst from an unmarked car, asked what he had in his hand (a paper bag covering an alcoholic beverage) and put their hands on him. He admits he responded by putting a hand on an officer's chest, sparking the pile-on.

The station says that Ohgogo did not sustain serious injuries. Prosecutors declined to file charges against him even though he had been booked on suspicion of felony resisting arrest.

The LAPD had little to say but did provide audio tape of an interview with the suspect after the arrest in which he apparently says that he had no qualms with the officers' actions in response to his placement of a hand on the cop's chest.

But now Ohgogo is suing.

The video comes at a bad time for the department, which has seen three controversial use-of-force incidents, one ending in death, come to light over summer:

I hate cops. I know there are cops who do good. But here in this video is one guy being beaten by two and then eventually a whole bunch of cops get in on it. Like a mob cop mentality. I see it too many times. Where are the cops who say... this isn't right? I don't know. I never see or hear those kind of cops.
