Some of the skateboarders who had lined up to see skate film Bake And Destroy ended up throwing rocks and bottles at police tonight in what will probably become known as the Hollywood Skater Riot of 2012.

So far no injuries or arrests were reported. But on a busy night, with cops working crowd control along the space shuttle Endeavour's South L.A. journey, police had to rush to the Hollywood unrest: The entire LAPD West Bureau was put on tactical alert, Det. Gus Villanueva told the Weekly.

It all started ...

... about 8:40 p.m. at Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street when a officers on patrol noticed the crowd of as many as 500 skaters and called for backup, Villanueva said.

Those extra cops were met with rocks and bottles, he said. Police shut down Hollywood and Vine and formed skirmish lines to control the crowds.

Fox 11 News reported that only about 50 stragglers remained as officers moved in to disperse trouble-makers.

The film was screening at the Vine Theater.

[Update at 3:22 p.m. Monday]: Despite reports elsewhere that one person was arrested for allegedly failing to disperse, LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera told the Weekly today that absolutely no one had been arrested.

Okay call me and out of touch, old, lame, yesteryear, wack, nerdo, square from delaware, and mummy swagged but I still say what the fuck is this bullshit. Nothing against skaters and their stuggles being hated on and oppressed by the MAN. And I realize it not a choice and they are born that way. And the media coverage of this was normal.......The results and responses or lack there of is is what blew me away. So lets see here. Bear with me. Remeber Im not cool ya'll. So a group of predominatly white young skaters, with a couple of token 'chocolate chips' to avoid an affirmative action claim on the gathering, that I can bet 80%+ of the mob was feeling the high of something and the other 20% were picked to make sure other get home, gather to start shit. ( Who other than critics, movie junkies, losers, anyone that was part of production, or people who were invited to screen really go to a film screening to just truly support a film for the relevance of their lifestyle? Did 500 soldiers mob Black Hawk Down's screening? What about gays and Brokeback Mountain? Fuck no and fuck screenings...) Yeah they punk asses had motive to give it ti the pigs!! They said nothing about the pigs harrassing or even approaching the crowd negetively. The few that was there get an old fashion Tea Party welcome while the scramble and call for back-up. Which indicates who started this so-called riot because it said the pigs had to leave some other bullshit that come handle this bullshit. The pigs wasnt even concerned about this to where a police presence at the event wasnt even scheduled like it would be if 50 black dancers gathered to support a documentary called 'Dance and Destroy'. The pigs woulve had hidden cameras inside, undercover agents with B2K shirts on talking '90's slang like [WHOOP THERE IT IS!], a tactical tent with a Starbucks and Krispy Kreme booth, a convoy of squad cars and horses, dope sniffing K-9's, 2 black negotiators that grew up in L.A. that can still 'Shake A Tailfeather' and 'Relate' to suspected trouble making dancers, and an arsenol that would make the cast on 'Matrix' bust a nut. Did these kids have that? Or did they have 5 rookies and troubled cops on probation, walk this beat just to catch some black skaters slipping and give them a ride to neighboring MacAuthur Park where they belong. So when the 'High on Oxi' skaters seen the 5 loser and unprovoking pigs they took advantage of this and proceeded as planed to start shit. They dug in their backpacks and fannie-packs and hailed bottles and rocks that they brought from elsewhere becuase as we all know there is no liquor store or alley or loose concrete or asphalt to supply these warriors in abundance and as quick. So much so the pigs ran. I know it wasnt any blacks there after for sure  becuse the backup pigs got a taste too and not even a pepper was sprayed or a bean bag shot or a sniper posted to take out to take out the nigg....I mean an impossible skater. Not a drop of blood drawn? Not a single grenade or casualty and violence was upon the L.A.P.D. all night. Nothing. So the pigs actually dont have to riddle the crowd with collateral casualties dead and beat the complying people or snipe anyone while being attacked at night and still can clean out the crowd? They dont get commission bonuses and promotions if they come back with kills to tally up after any L.A. mayhem to be dared labeled a riot? What??? Somebocdy is lying....This never happened. I dont believe it. Or the blacks scramed after the 1st rock was thrown due to intuition. Or whites really got it good ya'll 4real.......This aint no riot so call it something else like a misunderstanding..

Interesting that these people were throwing rocks at police, and no arrests nor use of pepper spray was mentioned. I guess the UC kids really are more of a threat to the system.

at home reading the updates via twitter, personally I'm sick of these dudes flipping and slamming their boards near the bus stop at Hollywood/Argyle in front of the public, some older citizens and attendees of the Pantages too who are frightened by it, and on private property, and in front of my building at 2am, there needs to be something done like heavy fines, we should be rioting against their lack of respect

I'm not a fan of boarders. I like and approve the idea of boarding but 3 years in Seattle with aggressive, grunge decorated boarders...enough. I was attacked by a group of 12 once because I wouldn't move off of the downtown Seattle mall steps. I held my own, they fled.

@troniks It played the Vine? Makes sense, I guess, but if it's still run by Jamshid, then the tale on that overexposed folly gets stranger.

@BellaLeslie neither have we, so we thought it would be a good filler for Monday before or after the beach. :)
