If you got a gun for Christmas and you don't like guns, take it back. If you got a gun for Christmas and you're not quite sure where it came from or where it's been, turn it into the LAPD anonymously.
You can do so today and, not only will cops not ask questions, they'll give you a gift card for $100 or $200 (the higher amount is for California-defined assault weapons). Here's the deal:
You legally secure your guns in your trunk and drive through a location, with cops there giving you instructions.
The LAPD says:
There is no paperwork, no photographs and no logging of anyone who surrenders a weapon.
You get a $100 gift card for your handgun or rifle, $200 for your assault weapon. Mkay? Here's where to go from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today:
-Van Nuys Masonic Temple, 14750 Sherman Way.
-Los Angeles Sports Arena, parking Lot 6 at Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard and Figueroa Street, Exposition Park.
The LAPD pushed up its scheduled May buyback following the tragedy in Newtown.
So do us all a favor and take one off the street.
