Kyle Bangayan, a 24-year-old suspected of making violent threats against local schools in Facebook statements that referred to the Newtown tragedy, was arrested by the LAPD and the FBI, authorities announced this morning.

The Pomona man was taken into custody at his parents' East Hollywood residence yesterday morning, they said.

Weapons were found, cops said, but no specific targets were mentioned. Here's what the LAPD says in a statement:

The threats, which did not target specific schools but did reference the Connecticut school shooting from last Friday, were posted on the social networking site Facebook.

Also found and seized at the residence where Bangayan was arrested were nine firearms, including rifles, a shotgun, handguns and ammunition.

The collar came at about 11:15 a.m. yesterday 1200 block of North New Hampshire Avenue, according to the department.

Bangayan was arrested on suspicion of criminal threats and jailed in lieu of a half-million bail, police said.
