It all started about 7:45 a.m. today in the 9100 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, LAPD Officer Richard French told the Weekly:
The suspect wouldn't come out of his room, police say, so a SWAT team was forced to use its powers of persuasion, namely ...
... tear gas, French said.
He came out peacefully about 11:30 a.m., he said.
LAPD Mission Division Capt. Todd Chamberlain told us Ramirez's grandfather claimed that he had beat him up, robbed him and took money from him over a two-month period.
About a week ago the grandson came back to his grandfather's place, and the grandfather ended up putting him up at the hotel, he said.
Chamberlain said the suspect has a drug problem and that "he was getting progressively more and more violent."
Ramirez was booked on suspicion of robbery, cops said.
