BMW Jerks Are Happy Jerks, Study Says

The stereotype of L.A. BMW drivers as self-satisfied jerks (nothing personal, boss -- just reporting the news) just got some scientific ammunition.

AXA Insurance's 2012 annual Motoring Census found that drivers of Bavarian lovelies were the most likely to express "enjoyment" behind the wheel during everyday drives:

Luxury makers topped the list, with 82 percent of BMW drivers expressing driving enjoyment and 78 percent of Aston Martin owners doing so. Lexus came in a close third, according ot the AXA data.

Strangely, Ferraris did not rate in the enjoyment category (and if you've seen drivers try to tame them before crashing, then maybe you know why). That make only got a 57 percent enjoyment rating. (Because slamming $250,000 worth of prancing horse into a roadside barrier is not enjoyable.)

That's worse that Ford owners' 68 percent rate of enjoyment, which beat out Toyota drivers' 64 percent number.

Here are the top five most-enjoyable cars:

1. BMW (82 percent)

2. Aston Martin (78 percent)

3. Lexus (78 percent)

4. Seat [Europe] (76 percent)

5. Peugeot (75 percent)

In general luxury cars seemed to deliver. Amanda Edwards of AXA:

There's an expectation that when you pay extra for a premium car, you'll enjoy driving it more than you would an everyday one.

Bowel Movement-Wow !  my opinion, for daily use on most roads almost all cars are nearly identical due to safety requirements that cause the insides to look similar and after all...how much can u really change in a car? the differences are mostly in the mind.  old joke...  Question:  What is the difference between a porcupine and a BMW?  Answer:  Porcupine has pricks on the outside.  BMW got the pricks on the inside.

My beef?  car insurance is a scam of Warren Buffett cause/magnitude.  They used Munger Tolles and all the law buddies to pass LIABILITY INSURANCE laws.  OK, think:  the 98% of us have NOTHING worth suing for and we never get in an accident involving 'liability' insurance. It protects the wealth of the 2%.  Collision insurance?  the 98% drives with a dent or two (so what, who gives a rats ass what the fukn piece of trash looks like...i don't but i ride my bike almost everywhere)... while the pricks in the BMW's take that money to expensively buff out tiny scratches.  Cars suck, luxury cars should be taxed and charged so much for insurance that only the worst pricks would dare drive them.  REMEMBER!  FUR COATS were once popular.  SOON>>> we must Spill Blood on the Vampires who think they deserve a car better than YOU or ME or for that matter, need a car at all.  Stupidest damn addiction, stupidest way of life ever conceived.  total fear cycle manipulation, all war is justified in the mind of each "American" who deep down feels it is OK if it fills the tank.  It is a self-feeding addiction of the worst most destructive type.

Without exception, when I see a car go through a red light or a stop sign,  a car parked illegally, or a car blowing through a residential neighborhood at 60 MPH, guaranteed that car is a BMW.  Guaranteed.  I always wondered if they had to verify that you were an asshole before you bought a BMW or if driving a BMW turns you into an asshole.

you really need to distinguish between a 3 series and 5/7 series

No Mercedes or Porsche? Think AXA has some flawed info.
