Joe Francis of Girls Gone Wild Gets Jail Time For Attacking Woman in L.A.
The man who had repeatedly been accused of assaulting women either got away with it or was a frequent target of false reports.
This time, however, Joe Francis of the Girls Gone Wild video empire will do time. At least that's what an L.A. Superior Court judge ordered today: He was sentenced to 270 days behind bars, three years probation, an anger management course, and psychological counseling, the City Attorney's office told LA Weekly:
In January of 2011, prosecutors say, Francis enticed three women to get into his limo outside Hollywood's supperclub.
The car drove to his house, and the video entrepreneur got into a physical altercation with two of the women while trying to separate them from a third, authorities said.
According to a City Attorney's statement from the time, he ...
... grabbed one of the women by the throat and hair and slammed her head into the tile floor four times.
In May the 40-year-old was convicted of three counts of false imprisonment, one count of dissuading a witness, and one count of assault. His sentence includes one year of psych counseling and "level 3" anger management courses, prosecutors said.
Today he posted $250,000 bail and his sentence was stayed pending an appeal, the City Attorney's office told us.
Remember when Gawker named him "Douche of the Decade" and he threatened to sue? Yeah.
