Raul Valentin, a 17-year-old Latino man, was shot in the head on February 9 in the 800 block of West 88th Street.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the shooter drove by and spotted Valentin, exited the vehicle, shot the victim and drove off.

Herbert Seymour Jr., L.A. Homicide No. 34: Man Discovered by Father After Being Shot Dead in South L.A. Street

During a walk back home from the liquor store on February 9, Herbert Seymour Jr., a 31-year-old black man, was fatally shot in the 10400 block of South Western Avenue.

According to a LAPD news release, the suspect approached Seymour on foot and shot him multiple times. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene and coroner's records showed he was shot in the head, back and leg.

Robert Jalomo, L.A. Homicide No. 33: Man Gunned Down by Bicyclist in Wilmington

On February 8, Robert Jalomo was shot and killed in the 600 block of West I Street by a suspect riding a bicycle.

Jalomo was discovered on the street with several gunshot wounds around 2:20 a.m., said Ed Winter of the coroner's office. The Los Angeles Times reported paramedics arrived about 15 minutes later and pronounced the 35-year-old Latino man dead.

According to City News Service, the alleged bicyclist-shooter fired at and hit another victim after killing Jalomo.

Charles Gonzales, L.A. Homicide No. 32: Man Fatally Shot While Answering Door in Westlake

As he was answering a knock on his door in the early morning, Charles Gonzales was shot dead in the doorway of his residence in the 800 block of Green Avenue.

According to City News Service, the 51-year-old was cooking breakfast when he heard knocking at the front door.

LAPD officers arrived at 5:15 a.m. and found Gonzales lying in the doorway with multiple gunshot wounds to the head, said Ed Winter of the coroner's office.

Gary Moreno, L.A. Homicide No. 31: Man Killed After Being Stabbed and Run Over Near Port of L.A.

30-year-old Latino Gary Moreno was found dead on February 5 in the 200 block of Avalon Boulevard, less than a mile from the Port of Los Angeles.

LAPD officers discovered Moreno lying in an alley with a severe stab wound to his chest and abrasions on his face, arm and side. A resident witnessed a white car run over Moreno before driving away, according to officials.

Michael John Baldwin, L.A. Homicide No. 30: Man Found Shot to Death in Stolen Car near Del Rey

On the morning of February 4, Michael John Baldwin was discovered shot dead and slouched over behind the wheel of a car on the 5500 block of Margaret Avenue.

The 34-year-old man was shot several times, according to coroner's records.

Shortly after the murder, LAPD officials blocked off the area as a crime scene to investigate.

An 18-year-old Latina woman, Darsy Noriega, was shot multiple times near East Avalon Boulevard and South 111th Street late night on February 2. LAPD officers discovered Noriega lying in an alley after responding to a 911 call.

She was pronounced dead shortly after at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

Eric Redd, L.A. Homicide No. 28: South L.A. Man Paralyzed by Gunshot Wound Dies 2.5 Years Later

A 36-year-old black man named Eric Redd died February 1 from injuries he had sustained two-and-a-half years earlier.

After Redd was shot in the neck on July 31, 2008, in the 900 block of West 97th Street in Vermont Knolls, he became paralyzed from the neck down. Then, on February 1, Redd was taken to the Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center in Inglewood, where he died as a result of his neck injury.

Michael Randolph, L.A. Homicide No. 27: Man Found Fatally Shot Inside Crashed Car in South L.A.

On the evening of January 31, Michael Randolph was found shot multiple times inside a car that crashed into a liquor store in the 200 block of West Imperial Highway.

After the store owner notified the police, paramedics arrived and took the middle-aged black man to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to LAPD officials.

On January 31, 22-year-old Ernesto Viagomez was shot on the corner Santa Monica Boulevard and Ardmore Avenue in East Hollywood.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Viagomez walked out of a liquor store and was confronted by a gang members around 8:30 p.m. He was shot in front of the store, according to Ed Winter of the coroner's office.

Joey Gutierrez, L.A. Homicide No. 25: Police Find 23-Year-Old Man With Fatal Gunshot Wound to Neck

After responding to a call made at 8:20 p.m. on January 28, LAPD officers found Joey Gutierrez close to the corner of 43rd and Main Streets in South Central. The 23-year-old Latino man, who was bleeding from the neck, was quickly rushed to California Hospital Medical Center.

According to coroner's reports, Gutierrez died from the gunshot wound just before 10 p.m.

A 43-year-old Latino man was shot multiples times on January 28 in the 4400 block of South Towne Avenue. Martin Valdovinos was taken downtown to California Hospital Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 10:05 p.m., according to coroner's records.

The Los Angeles Times reported Valdovinos was shot during a "drug deal gone wrong" and later confirmed that he was the person selling drugs.

Vicki Yildirim, L.A. Homicide No. 23: Woman Stabbed to Death Over Money Dispute in South L.A.

In the early morning of January 27, 45-year-old Vicki Yildirim was found bleeding in a courtyard in the 500 block of West Century Boulevard.

City News Service reported that she suffered one stab wound to the chest and was rushed to Harbor UCLA Medical Center by paramedics. Yildirim,was announced in "serious" medical condition upon arrival, according to LAPD investigators.

Esquivel Castillo, L.A. Homicide No. 22: Man Dies Eight Days After Brutal Beating

A middle-aged Latino man was severely injured after being assaulted on January 17 in Central-Alemeda just after midnight. After being hospitalized at County-USC Medical Center for eight days, Esquivel Castillo died of blunt head trauma on January 25, according to coroner's records.

LAPD investigators told the Los Angeles Times that the 51-year-old was beaten near the corner of 55th Street and Hooper Avenue. At his time of death over a week later, no arrests had been made.

Earl Rhodes, L.A. Homicide No. 21: 'Eccentric' Man Shot and Killed by LAPD in Front of Green Meadows Home

A 48-year-old black man killed on January 24 by two LAPD officers was later identified as Earl Rhodes. The victim, who officers claimed was acting aggressively, was beaten to the ground and Tasered in front of his home near East 107th Street and South Clovis Avenue in Green Meadows.

Neighbors put a "disturbance" call into the LAPD at 8:15 p.m., after overhearing Rhodes arguing loudly with family members. The Los Angeles Times reported that the officers, on their way to the scene, got word that he might have mental health problems...

During the afternoon of January 24, Andrew Cherry, a middle-aged black man, was found dead by relatives in his one-bedroom apartment in Vermont Square.

The Los Angeles Times reported that family members became distressed when Cherry did not show up to visit his two children, who live just blocks away from his 1400 block of West 53rd Street residence.

Willy Rosoto-Reyes, a 46-year-old Latino man, was fatally shot on January 24 on the 1400 block of West 6th Street in Westlake. Though City News Service initially reported that Reyes was shot at 5 a.m. by a man he had previously been arguing with, LAPD Detective Jeff Cortina described the case to the Los Angeles Times as a walk-up shooting, and said it was not gang-related.

After gunfire was reported around 9:30 p.m. on January 21 in South L.A., police found the dead body of 24-year-old Latino man Gregorio Mejia-Murillo inside a home near the intersection of 52nd and Main streets some time later, according to City News Service.

Coroner's records stated that he was shot in the chest.

On January 18 at midnight, at the intersection of Roscoe and Topanga Canyon Boulevards, 17-year-old Latino boy Carlos Heredia Jr attempted to rob two people outside a gas station in Canoga Park. After a 911 call from the station's attendant, City News Service reported that police arrived at the scene and immediately spotted the suspect.

A Latino man shot dead on January 17 was later identified as 21-year-old Jose Vera-Eugenio. Coroner's records show the victim sustained multiple gunshots to the head and torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.

Three men, including Vera-Eugenio, pulled a car up in front of a home on the 500 block of West 98th Street, just a block away from Charles W Barnett Elementary School.
