Going Viral (and Vile) About Swine Flu and Immigration

"Make no mistake about it: Illegal aliens are the carriers of the new strain of human-swine avian flu from Mexico." These words, spoken in the tremulous, outraged voice of California radio jock Michael Savage, are typical of the "debate" that is already inflaming the airwaves and blogosphere in the wake of the swine flu outbreak. It is the same kind of charge that always seems to be leveled against "outsiders" during times of national crisis -- whether it be the canard of refugee Jews bringing disease to France in the 1930s or of Gypsies infecting contemporary Italy.

Swine flu has merely provided accelerant to the already incendiary rhetoric about immigration and race in this country. Media Matters quotes longtime Fox News commentator Michelle Malkin  on the subject. Writing in her best Nobody Listens to Me voice, Malkin says, "I've blogged for years about the spread of contagious diseases from around the world into the U.S. as a result of uncontrolled immigration."

Americans, in other words, turned their backs upon this Cassandra's prophesies at their own peril. All because, I suppose, we mistook them for the unmedicated ravings of a professional hater. Malkin finds a silver lining here, however, because, as she says, "maybe we'll finally get serious about borders now."

This kind of hygienics alarm was sounded before the recent epidemic. Last year the Southern Poverty Law Center took note of an online book by one Peter Wagner, whose "The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration portrays undocumented immigrants as rapists, murderers, drunk drivers and disease-carriers. Citing the far-right WorldNetDaily website, it asserts that during a recent three-year period the United States saw '9,000 cases [of leprosy] and most were illegal aliens.'" The leprosy figure, needless to say, was quickly debunked.

The SPLC also profiled Frosty Wooldridge, a nativist speaker who appears at American Legions posts promoting his own book. "Hepatitis, along with head lice and tuberculosis," the SLPC cites Wooldridge as claiming, "are showing up in classrooms because of what Wooldridge calls immigrants' 'disease jihad.' In case that's not enough, Wooldridge adds that Mexicans 'do not wash their hands after using bathroom facilities.'"Those leprosy "facts," by the way, eventually found their way into the mouth of CNN's Lou Dobbs -- who has now jumped onto the immigrant-disease-carriers bandwagon. So the next time your hear these kind of claims surface on cable TV or yack radio,  consider where they bubble up from first.

Shocking quote source here says:

Steven Mikulan should ask the SPLC to just write posts like this for him; they might be slightly more accurate: Dobbs' infamous leprosy stats came from another source.

However, let me do Steven Mikulan a favor and quote this shocking bit of xenophobia, racism, and interference with nice companies and banks profiting from illegal activity: "he rising wave of immigration from Central and South America increases the likelihood that Chagas' disease may become more common in the United States".

The shocking quote source at my name's link.

These Racist Djs, TV Talk Show Hosts and Unqualified people like Frosty who have NO CLUE how to Succeed, get their Highs in life by predating on Poor Migrants that cant defend themselves Instead of looking at themselves and seeing how UNSUCCESSFUL they Truly are themselves.

Stop Blaming Others. Don’t look to the stars for the cause of your misfortunes look to yourself to get better results.

There are many things you cannot control, but you can control the only things that really matter: your mind and your attitude. External forces have very little to do with success. Those who program themselves for success find a way to succeed even in the most difficult of circumstances.
Solutions to most problems come from one source and one source alone: YOURSELF.

Living life to the fullest is a lot like shooting the rapids in a rubber raft. Once you’ve made the commitment, it’s difficult to change your mind, turn around, and paddle upstream to placid waters. But it’s the excitement and adventure that make it all worthwhile. If you never make the attempt, you may never know the depths of despair, but neither will you experience the exhilaration of success.

Why Some Succseed and others Fail??

The question has mystified people since humans first became dissatisfied with cave dwellings and tried to find someway to make life more comfortable. Perhaps the following comparisons between the characteristics of a Failure and a Successful Person will help answer the Question.

The Successful person express opinion only after having informed herself so she can do so intelligently.
The Failure expresses opinions on subjects about which she has little or no Knowledge.

The Successful Person is open minded and tolerant on all subjects and towards people.
The Failure has a closed mind, steeped in intolerance, which shuts her off from the recognition of favorable opportunities and the friendly cooperation of others.

The Successful person Thinks before she speaks, She weighs her words carefully, And she emphasizes her likes concerning people, minimizing her dislikes or not mentioning them at all.
The Unsuccessful person dose just the opposite, She Speaks first, thinks later, Her words bring only regret and embarrassment and cost her irretrievable benefits because of the resentments they endanger.

The Successful Person knows precisely what she desires and has a PLAN for getting it, believes in her ability to get it, Devotes a Major Portion of her time to Acquire it.
The Failure has no definite purpose in life, believes that all success is a result of "luck" and moves on her own initiative only when forced to do so.

The Success is a master salesperson who has learnt the art of influencing others to corporate in a friendly spirit to carry out her plans and purpose.
The Failure finds fault with people, She goes out of her way to let them know about her critical attitude.

The Successful Person budgets time, income and expenditures. She lives within her means.
The Failure squanders time and income with a contemptuous disregard for their value

The Successful Person takes a keen interest in people especially those whom she has something in common and cultivates a bond of friendship.
The Failure cultivates only those from whom she wants something.

The Successful Person keeps abreast of the times and makes it an important responsibility to know what is going on, not only in her own business, profession or community but throughout the entire world.
The Failure concerns herself only with her immediate needs, acquiring them by what ever means are available-fair or foul.

The Successful Person keeps her Mind and OUTLOOK on life positive at all times. She recognizes that the space she occupies in the world and the success she enjoys depend upon the quality & quantity of the service she renders. She makes it a habit to render more service than she promises.
The Failure looks for "something for nothing" or something under the table which she did not earn, And when she fails to get it, she blames the greed of others.

The Successful Person has a keen respect for her Creator and expresses it frequently through prayers and deeds of helpfulness to others.
The Failure believes in nothing but her own desire for food and shelter and seeks those at the expense of others when and where she can.

All in All, There is a Big Difference in both words and deeds of the Successful Person and the Failure. But each person is where she is and what she is because of her own attitude towards herself and others.

The SPLC, is not a credible source, but seems able to form opinions from Alabama about persons, groups and conditions in the Southwest USA. The SPLC, makes judgements about right-wing extremists, KKK, Neo-Nazis, and ignores the Left. This puts the SPLC, not as an un-biased centrist judge, but a Communist sucaphant of the Left. What is the SPLC's opinion of the Left-Wing Extremist, Zapatista, paramilitary, insurgency, known as the Brown Berets de Aztlan or the youth indoctrination of the Mexica-Nazi organization known as M.E.Ch.A.? Back to the article, infectious diseases vector by multiple modes. We have established protocols, to protect our society, however these are only effective if travelers obey the laws and follow procedure. Illegal aliens, who jump, tunnel, or sneak throuGh the borders, are not checked, are not listed and are totally unknown phantoms, to our system of protocols. Regardless of their plight, simply put if a person cannot afford to cross the borders and obey our laws and protocols, they are a danger to our society. Personally I'd go to the border and shoot to kill anyone crossing illegally, in order to protect the USA from diseased invaders. Mexico is in a meltdown and a pandemic could drive migration in numbers we fear. Water and food shortages, combined with insufficient energy, spells disaster as temperatures rise. Nature doesn't waste energy, overpopulation creates the incubator of outbreaks. Disease thins the population, and Nature achievs balance. PREPARE NOW!

Some of the xenophobic comments here illustrate Mikulan's point. And they're not just coming from the far right, but the likes of Walter Moore/David Berger Candidates for Mayor and City Attorney, who keep telling us they see eye-to-eye with Candidate for City Attorney Carmen Trutanich. But Berger just says things more bluntly, leaving Trutanich with the "benefit" of the xenophobe/racist vote while not having to say things himself.

The fact is that Mexico is the source of this swine flu outbreak, but there has been SARS from China, from poultry; India and other "third world" countries have strains of TB that are not receptive to antibiotics (like what that guy got who was quarantined and vilified after returning from a trip), etc. These ARE dangerous and contagious diseases that we're perhaps not warned about enough before we travel, because if we were we'd be even more careful abroad. But these diseases are more often brought back by well-to-do travelers, not the illegal Mexican migrant workers being bashed here. Yet we don't hear cries to ban all travel to and from China. Caution and education are vital; fear-mongering leads to negative hysteria.

Eddie Brown says:

Okay, enough with the "picking our food" nonsense.
I'm an American carpenter. I build houses for a living. Do You?! The answer is Yes, Millions of working class Citizens and legal immigrants work in the labor industries. and these other industries (the ones that don't require picking anything)
are also becoming saturated by illegal workers to the point that poor and working class Americans And legal immigrants are becoming overwhelmed by illegal competition. And no, putting Illegal workers "on apath to citizenship" does absolutly nothing to stop or releave the competition that is making finding a job difficult. It simply makes illegal competition...Legal. WOOOHOOO!! gee thanks! Listen, If You want to help a Working class Citizen You don't legalize their illegal competitor. You fire the illegal worker and give the job to a legal worker. What? can't find a Poor American willing to work in a factory, construction site, restaurant, trucking company, checkout clerk, diner, ect.ect.ect...Fear not. There are millions of Legal immigrants from all over the globe (not just Mexico and Central America) That enter the U.S. every year that would love to pick veggies for seven bucks an hour. I have many legal immigrant friends from south east Asia where they have farming in their blood! say they would love to have a crack at the American agriculture industry, but simply don't bother because it is well known that industry in saturated by illegal workers mostly from Mexico. Speaking of Mexico, What about the Legal immigrants and Mexican Americans employed in the labor industries??? Why should they be a de facto ally of other Latinos who snuck into the counrty simply because they share the same ethnicity?? We do not need illegal immigrant workers from anywhere...What we need to do is suport our proud legal immigrant workers and working class Citizens who Need the help now more than ever. And I, for one, Thank You.

American Patriot says:

April 30 (Bloomberg) -- Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said that illegal immigration makes a “significant” contribution to U.S. economic growth by providing a flexible workforce.

Greenspan, appearing before a Senate subcommittee today, said illegal immigrants provide a “safety valve” as demand for workers rises and falls.

“There is little doubt that unauthorized, that is, illegal, immigration has made a significant contribution to the growth of our economy,” Greenspan said. An overhaul of U.S. immigration laws is “badly needed” to create legal avenues for skilled and unskilled workers to enter the country legally, he said.

“Our immigration laws must be reformed and brought up to date,” Greenspan told the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees and Border Security.

It's from bad to worse. You won't know when incoming illegal Mexican will cause serious swine flu issue to USA.

So far, we know those cases per legal americans because they report the status to the govenment.

However, illegal Mexican won't reply to the govenment because they are ILLEGAL. Illegal Mexican comes to hospital ER to see the doctor, and then run right away because they don't want to pay. Hospital won't be able to know and track if they got swine flu or not. There are more than 20 illegal Mexcian with swine flu like symptoms every night. It's kind of a nightmare for us, who work for the hospital ER.

For your own health, plesae stay away from illegal Mexican if you feel that they have swine flu symptoms.

Government should take care of illegal Mexican issue. New coming illegal mexican might bring more serious swine flu issue to USA.

Truth says:

Undocumented immigrants paying more taxes than you think!!

immigrationpolicy(DOT)org/

Eight million Undocumented immigrants pay Social Security, Medicare and income taxes. Denying public services to people who pay their taxes is an affront to America’s bedrock belief in fairness. But many “pull-up-the-drawbridge” politicians want to do just that when it comes to Undocumented immigrants.

The fact that Undocumented immigrants pay taxes at all will come as news to many Americans. A stunning two thirds of Undocumented immigrants pay Medicare, Social Security and personal income taxes.

Yet, nativists like Congressman Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., have popularized the notion that illegal aliens are a colossal drain on the nation’s hospitals, schools and welfare programs — consuming services that they don’t pay for.

In reality, the 1996 welfare reform bill disqualified Undocumented immigrants from nearly all means tested government programs including food stamps, housing assistance, Medicaid and Medicare-funded hospitalization.

The only services that illegals can still get are emergency medical care and K-12 education. Nevertheless, Tancredo and his ilk pushed a bill through the House criminalizing all aid to illegal aliens — even private acts of charity by priests, nurses and social workers.

Potentially, any soup kitchen that offers so much as a free lunch to an illegal could face up to five years in prison and seizure of assets. The Senate bill that recently collapsed would have tempered these draconian measures against private aid.

But no one — Democrat or Republican — seems to oppose the idea of withholding public services. Earlier this year, Congress passed a law that requires everyone who gets Medicaid — the government-funded health care program for the poor — to offer proof of U.S. citizenship so we can avoid “theft of these benefits by illegal aliens,” as Rep. Charlie Norwood, R-Ga., puts it. But, immigrants aren’t flocking to the United States to mooch off the government.

According to a study by the Urban Institute, the 1996 welfare reform effort dramatically reduced the use of welfare by undocumented immigrant households, exactly as intended. And another vital thing happened in 1996: the Internal Revenue Service began issuing identification numbers to enable illegal immigrants who don’t have Social Security numbers to file taxes.

One might have imagined that those fearing deportation or confronting the prospect of paying for their safety net through their own meager wages would take a pass on the IRS’ scheme. Not so. Close to 8 million of the 12 million or so illegal aliens in the country today file personal income taxes using these numbers, contributing billions to federal coffers.

No doubt they hope that this will one day help them acquire legal status — a plaintive expression of their desire to play by the rules and come out of the shadows. What’s more, aliens who are not self-employed have Social Security and Medicare taxes automatically withheld from their paychecks.

Since undocumented workers have only fake numbers, they’ll never be able to collect the benefits these taxes are meant to pay for. Last year, the revenues from these fake numbers — that the Social Security administration stashes in the “earnings suspense file” — added up to 10 percent of the Social Security surplus.

The file is growing, on average, by more than $50 billion a year. Beyond federal taxes, all illegals automatically pay state sales taxes that contribute toward the upkeep of public facilities such as roads that they use, and property taxes through their rent that contribute toward the schooling of their children.

The non-partisan National Research Council found that when the taxes paid by the children of low-skilled immigrant families — most of whom are illegal — are factored in, they contribute on average $80,000 more to federal coffers than they consume. Yes, many illegal migrants impose a strain on border communities on whose doorstep they first arrive, broke and unemployed.

To solve this problem equitably, these communities ought to receive the surplus taxes that federal government collects from immigrants. But the real reason border communities are strained is the lack of a guest worker program.

Such a program would match willing workers with willing employers in advance so that they wouldn’t be stuck for long periods where they disembark while searching for jobs. The cost of undocumented aliens is an issue that immigrant bashers have created to whip up indignation against people they don’t want here in the first place.

With the Senate having just returned from yet another vacation and promising to revisit the stalled immigration bill, politicians ought to set the record straight: Illegals are not milking the government. If anything, it is the other way around.

The Undocumented Immigrants pay the exact same amount of taxes like you and me when they buy Things, rent a house, fill up gas, drink a beer or wine, buy appliances, play the states lottery and mega millions . Below are the links to just a few sites that will show you exactly how much tax you or the Undocumented Immigrant pays , so you see they are NOT FREELOADERS, THEY PAY TAXES AND TOLLS Exactly the same as you, Now if you take out 10% from your states /city Budget what will your city/state look like financially ?

Stop your folly thinking , you are wise USE YOUR WISDOM to see the reality. They pay more taxes than you think, Including FEDERAL INCOME TAX using a ITN Number that is given to them by the IRS, Social Security Taxes and State taxes that are withheld form their paychecks automatically.

GAS Taxes paid by you & the Undocumented are the same. Go to and check out your states tax;

Cigarette Taxes paid by you & the Undocumented are the same, check this out in :

Food Taxes, paid by You & the Undocumented are the same in each state check your state :
