Senior Citizen With Oxygen Tank Robs Bank

Categories: Over the Weekend, crime, odd news

Times must be really hard. A man described as 70- to 80-years-old walked into a San Diego bank today and robbed the place of an undisclosed amount of cash. He was actually seen with an oxygen tank and a tube running to his nose.

Witnesses, apparently, did not recount seeing a weapon. The FBI describes the suspect as 6 feet, 4 inches tall. He was wearing a blazer, slacks and prescription glasses when he walked into the San Diego National Bank branch at 7877 Ivanhoe Ave. in the community of La Jolla about 10:10 a.m.

It's not clear if the man complained that it was too cold, kept asking the teller to speak up, or smelled of vitamins and mothballs. We're imagining him to be something like the Uncle Junior character from the Sopranos, but who knows, he could be someone's desperate grandfather. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the FBI at 858-565-1255.

Dot Com Note says:

When a 70 years old with oxygen tank is robbing a bank, the situation must be very bad. I think he knows he may die in the jail but the other alternatives of not having money for whatever reason must not be acceptable to him. Or, he may be senile.

KUDOS TO HIM! Probably a WWII Veteran that needs money for private healthcare because the Veterans Administration (VA) health care system is so ridiculously slow and DANGEROUS.

If I were in that bank at the time I would have opened the door for him on his way out..

Electronic Cigarette Fan says:

I can't believe a senior just robbed a bank. Maybe he just need his family but sad to say, they don't want him already. Or perhaps, he's just looking for money to help his family pay the hospital bills. Nah. We don't really know his intentions of doing it.
