The punks had their day here on Saturday, railing against Mexico City's peace-loving emos in what amounts to at least a psychological escalation of the anti-emo movement. Later that night, L.A. deathrock legends Christian Death played in Colonia Roma. Pictured above is singer Eva O and another band member during Friday's night autograph-signing at El Under. Across town in Polanco, the Indie-O festival took over the Vive Cuervo Salon, bringing earthy, earnest (as in, NON-EMO) indie rock to eager D.F. fans.

During a press conference on Thursday featuring the bands, BSS members were asked what they thought about the anti-emo movement. Kevin Drew quipped, "They're going to get to write some serious poetry."

An earlier post here pointing to an anti-emo tirade by Televisa personality Kristoff has generated its share of comments, so I thought I'd help you guys out with my translation of the words before and after the "Fucking bullshit" part in English. Here goes:

“Emo is bullshit. What is emo? It’s something for girls of 15, because they’ve just gotten hair you-know-where. They’ve just become emotional, because they like the singer in the band, not because they like the music. […] It’s necessary to create a new genre, that says, ‘Dude, all the rest are emotionally incorrect, they don’t satisfy us. Fucking bullshit, kids! There is no movement, there is no way of thinking, there are no musicians. You guys confuse punk, hard-core, you confuse screamo, you combine all the currents, just to give meaning to your stupid and idiotic movement. There is no movement.”
