Over the Weekend: Jacuzzi Parties, Animal Collective, David Lynch and Danger Mouse's Dark Night of the Soul, Pro-Gay Marriage Rally in Fresno
While some might argue that the most exciting thing that happened this weekend was Sacha Baron Cohen's "Bruno" sitting bare-assed on Eminem's face at the MTV Movie Awards, there was more to take in (and take off) in Los Angeles this weekend that didn't involve well-played publicity stunts. Friday night we joined Kevin Roderick of LA Observed to celebrate the news Web site's 6th anniversary at a rooftop party at the Formosa Cafe. The party was packed with varied media types and journalists from across the country and, needless to say, good times were had by all.
Over the weekend, Angelenos said goodbye to May and welcomed June with a jacuzzi party, Animal Collective at the Wiltern, David Lynch and Danger Mouse's Dark Night of the Soul opening at the Michael Kohn Gallery, and the "Meet in the Middle" pro-gay marriage rally in Fresno. Read on for more of what we did and who we saw...

Animal Collective returned to Los Angeles for a sold out night at the Wiltern on Friday. The line of fans and those looking for extra tickets stretched down Wilshire Blvd. so we took a walk down towards Denny's and snapped their photos. View more in the Animal Collective slideshow. ![]()
