The Weekend in Music: Quiet Storm Action with Keith Sweat, Abe Vigoda, Punky Reggae and The Parson Redheads

If you're looking for some nookie this weekend, as in: your special one has been hesitatin', and you've been motivatin' but there is no reciprocatin', well, maybe you need to butter up with some Keith Sweat. For example:

Tonight you can check out Hot Buttered Sweat at the Greek Theatre on a bill with the Gap Band, the Emotions and One Way.

But maybe you're itching for some Wu-Tang action. Killah Priest is at Crash Mansion LA tonight. Or maybe you feel like seeing THE WORST BAND IN THE WORLD, Infected Mushroom. They gig at Avalon tonight and tomorrow night. Don't believe me that they're THE WORST BAND IN THE WORLD? Check out this action.

At least they're not mediocre.

The great actor Abe Vigoda has accomplished many things in his life. He was an unsung highlight of The Godfather, had an wonderfully deadpan demeanor on Barney Miller, and inspired four LA punkers to the extent they named their band after him.

Abe Vigoda plays at The Smell tonight with Mutators, Modern Creatures and BIRTH! And while you're downtown swing by La Cita for Part Time Punks' Punky Reggae party. That's always fun, and you haven't done it in a while.

The Parson Redheads celebrate the release of their new EP, "Owl & Timber" at Spaceland
tonight, as well. I haven't seen them since the fall, so I'll be heading there to check in.

Here's an mp3 from the EP.
