World Tea Expo Report: World's Largest Chocolate Fountain (A Brief, Decadent Aside)

The World's Largest Chocolate Fountain is located beside the Jean-Philippe Maury Patissier in one of the meandering, mazelike corridors of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, where I stayed for the final night of the World Tea Championships. The fountain is certified by the Guinness Book of World Records. It has white, medium and dark confectionary grade chocolate circulating through it, piped in by over 500 feet of stainless steel piping. It rises 27 vertical feet from a lower level pump room and took two years to engineer, plan and design.

I was on my way to my room, obediently following the map produced by the lady at the check in desk, when the chocolate fountain stopped me in my tracks. "Are you actually taking a picture of this?" said the curmudgeonly old man standing next to me. "Any five year old could have come up with this idea. It's just chocolate pouring from one level to the next." Sheesh. Granted, Vegas dulls the senses, but some folks are seriously jaded about their chocolate.

Who wouldn't want to slip into the glass enclosure, lie down with their mouth open, and drown beneath one of the pouring rivers of chocolate? Furthermore, I believe this concept might be successfully applied to tea. Iced tea, perhaps? Or boba milk tea. Or Thai iced tea.

You cannot bring the World's Largest Chocolate Fountain home, but you can bring home one or two or three of these $16 World's Largest Chocolate Fountain Chocolate Bars.
