Head to Sea with Those Who Know Their Fish: Edible L.A.'s Fishing Excursion this Sunday
If one were to assemble a Noah's Ark of the current L.A. high-end restaurant scene, here's in part what it might look like: Neal Fraser of Grace, David LeFevre of Water Grill, Josiah Citrin of Mélisse and Cache, Curtis Stone of Take Home Chef, Steven Fretz of XIV, Brian Moyers of BLT Steak, Andrea Cavaliere of Cecconi's, and mixologist Vincenzo Marianella of Copa D'Oro.
These chefs--and mixologist--will gather on a fishing boat with only 30 other guests during the next fishing adventure organized by Edible Los Angeles this Sunday, July 19.
For LeFevre, who goes fishing about twice a year, the attraction of the day is primarily social. "It's not often that you can get a group of incredibly talented people together when they're not doing an event and talk about food and their lives without the pressure of 200 guests breathing down your neck," he says. When asked about what he expects to catch, LeFevre admits he has "no idea. There might be some barracuda, white bass, some sort of rockfish. It depends on how far out we go and what's in the water."
The excursion starts at the 22nd Street Landing in San Pedro at 12:30 p.m.; the boat docks at 6:00 that evening. Cost is $100 per participant. All you need is a ticket, a rod and a fishing license--fishing skills are useful, but not required. Just don't pack any bananas, as they are, apparently, extremely back luck on a fishing boat. Particularly one filled with chefs.
Tickets available online through Brown Paper Tickets.
