Gourmet Magazine To Close: November Issue To Be Its Last

Gourmet Magazine is closing, according to reports from the New York Times. The Condé Naste magazine will reportedly announce this morning that it will stop publication after its November issue. The magazine, which was first published in 1941, has seen sharply declining ad revenue and there had been speculation that either Gourmet or sister publication Bon Appétit could be restructured. According to a memo from Condé Nast CEO Chuck Townsend, "Gourmet magazine will cease monthly publication, but we will remain committed to the brand, retaining Gourmet's book publishing and television programming, and Gourmet recipes on Epicurious.com. We will concentrate our publishing activities in the epicurean category on Bon Appétit."

This image, from Gourmet's (now penultimate) October issue, seems a fitting commentary.
