Repeal Day Skating Party, Courtesy of The Edison

Just because we don't live in New Hampshire doesn't mean we don't get to go ice skating, thanks to Pershing Square's downtown ice skating rink. And this Saturday, The Edison makes sure that you'll have fun doing it, as they'll be serving hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts and Christmas cookies. For a paltry $25, in addition to the cookies and cocoa, you'll get the skating time and skate rentals, an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus and a little Christmas present. And after you return your skates, head back to the downtown lounge to sample the contents of a barrel of Edison's Christmas Blend of Woodford Reserve bourbon, just in from Kentucky. "It's sweeter, with more spice and cinnamon, built for winter sweet drinks," says Aidan Demarest, The Edison's Director of Spirits and Beverages, who just got back from Kentucky himself. Along with the bourbon, there will be more food and drinks, including, of course, eggnog.

All this because The Edison is celebrating Repeal Day this Saturday. The 18th Amendment, which is what President Roosevelt repealed 76 years ago to end Prohibition, did not cover drinking and skating. Fortunately, none of the rest of them do either.

The Edison's Repeal Day party: starting at 6 p.m., Saturday, December 5th, at Pershing Square. Tickets are available online or at Pershing Square, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Midnight Mission. Only 100 tickets available.
