Merry Christmas: How to String Up Your Christmas Tree, With Pretzels
Squid Ink is taking the day off tomorrow, but will be back on Monday. We leave you with this look at the interior of 3 Square Café + Bakery, on Abbot Kinney in Venice. Every year Hans Röckenwagner hangs his Christmas tree upside down, suspended from the ceiling and decorated with his signature pretzels. If you happen to know how this particular tradition started, let us know. We didn't want to call up the chef on the night before Christmas to find out. Maybe it's a German thing; or maybe Röckenwagner is secretly an engineer as well as a pretty impressive carpenter. Whatever, it's pretty cool. Merry Christmas.
