This Is Why We're Fat: Last Supper Would Have Left Us Hungry

Categories: Food News

People have been saying for quite time that our portion sizes have been increasing. Now, thanks to a study at (Sweet 16-bound) Cornell, and paintings of the the last known meal Jesus ever ate, we might just have the proof. Cornell's Brian Wasnik pored over 52 different paintings of The Last Supper, dating back as far as 1,000 years ago, and discovered that, yes, we eat more now.

Apparently, the main dish has grown 69 percent, the plate has grown 66 percent and bread portions are 23 percent larger. If that doesn't prove it to you, you could always take a glance at This Is Why You're Fat. Or walk into any Cheesecake Factory.

The study will appear in the April issue of the International Journal of Obesity.
