Last Night at La Descarga: In Celebration of a New Cocktail
N. Galuten Brisa de Oaxaca
Something new has arrived at the Cuban themed rum bar La Descarga, in honor of someone who goes there a lot. Bricia Lopez is something of Oaxacan restaurant royalty in Los Angeles, with her family owning Guelaguetza and she and her brother Fernando owning the recently reviewed Pal Cabron. Now, she has a drink named after her at one of the most popular bars in town.
The $13 Brisa de Oaxaca, made of mezcal, yellow chartreuse, lime, orange and sugar, was described by the bartender as "Oaxaca in the Caribbean." It is a bright, intensely smokey drink, that seems to go right along with Bricia herself. Many guests were in attendance to celebrate the event, including a slew of local bloggers such as Street Gourmet LA, Food GPS, e*star LA and Let Me Eat Cake.
We didn't stay for the entire night of live music and rum, but did notice her tweet when we woke up this morning, sent out around 3am:
