N. Galuten Artichoke tea from 99 Ranch Market
When passing through the tea aisle in a supermarket, artichoke tea is not the first thing you expect to come across. But in our recent market travels, we happened upon some in the 99 Ranch Market in Van Nuys.
Artichoke tea, or trá atiso, is a common medicinal tea in Vietnam, believed to stimulate bile, aid in digestion and reduce cholesterol, while also being beneficial for the liver and gall bladder. This particular box, by "Sword Fish Brand" in Vietnam, is comprised of the artichoke stem, root, and flower.
We're not exactly certain that it works. But if any of you are really hung over, feel free to brew a cup and let us now how you're feeling. Don't worry -- it has a pleasant, earthy taste.
