Les 50 Francais qui Comptent aux Etats-Unis en 2010: #1? Ludo
We do not, sadly, speak French. But we're told on good authority, namely Kristine Lefebvre, the wife of local chef and French expatriate Ludovic Lefebvre (LudoBites 1, 2, 3, 4 and counting; more on this in a few days), that the title of this article, in the July/August edition of the magazine France-Amérique, means "the Top 50 French people in America who count in 2010 (literal translation)." Number one on the list? Ludo. Congratulations!![]()
Founded in 1943 by "World War II France Libre exiles," France-Amérique, which is headquartered in New York, is the largest French-language journal published in America. And if you're curious about some of the other 49 people on the list, #12 is Daniel Boulud; #13 is Mireille Guiliano, author of French Women Don't Get Fat; #36 is Philippe Ruiz, chef at the Palme D'Or in Miami; and #45 is Ariane Daguin of D'Artagnan. For those of you who do read French, the issue will be out in a few weeks, and includes a recipe for Lefebvre's squid ink croque monsieur with foie gras. Be worth learning a bit of French just for that.
