Let's Meat: 2nd Annual Korean BBQ Cook-Off

It's still summer, and that means you should probably be standing near a grill on a Saturday afternoon. But this coming Saturday, you can ignore the hot dogs and head over The Korean American Coalition's 2nd Annual Korean BBQ Cook-Off, at 3600 Wilshire Boulevard in Koreatown. Entrance is free, but you can get your food from any of the multiple vendors with the purchase of $5 vouchers (cash only).

The festivities will include a beer garden, a soju mix-off, and an eating contest featuring a "secret ingredient." There will also be some non-Korean BBQ vendors selling drinks, shaved ice, Coolhaus ice cream sandwiches, Scoops ice cream, and more.

But the main draw, of course, will be Korean BBQ. Many popular local restaurants will be on hand, including Park's BBQ, O-Dae San, and Soowon Galbi. There will be a Korean BBQ competition too, with judges including chef Ludo Lefebvre (LudoBites), actress Sandra Oh (Sideways, Grey's Anatomy), and The Weekly's own Jonathan Gold.

Korean BBQ Cook-Off: Saturday, August 7th, from noon to 8 p.m. At the upper parking lot of 3600 Wilshire Blvd., between Harvard and Kingsley. Cash only.
