Bidding Adieu to Les Deux

Once a Hollywood celebrity hot bed, Les Deux, which opened in the summer of 2006, has shuttered. So yes, Yelpers questions and comments pertaining to the nightclub's demise are now verified. "Les Deux closed its doors after four amazing years because of a dispute with the city in regards to an invalid CUP. The Dolce Group looks forward to further nightlife and restaurant endeavors in Hollywood and continuing success with Ketchup, Geisha House, Wonderland and Angels & Kings," said Lonnie Moore, partner at The Dolce Group.

Once the place to be in Hollywood, Les Deux had its struggles. In a July 15 LA Weekly cover story about The Hills, a partner in The Dolce Group, Sylvain Bitton reflected on the days of having to purchase thousand dollar tables to ensure entrance to the club: "Now, you'll see people that might not have been able to get in three years ago," Bitton said. "All the hedge-fund guys buying expensive bottles of champagne, spending 10 grand a night easy, they don't really do it like they used to."

The life span of a Hollywood club is typically short. Clubs in L.A. have a five- to 10-month shelf life, according to Bitton. "That's good crowd-wise. They stay open for longer, of course. Les Deux held a good crowd for two-and-a-half years. It still does. We've been here for four years, which is an eternity for nightclubs."
