Since its inception in 2006, Gourmandise Desserts has been a nomadic classroom, bouncing between kitchens at Surfas Restaurant Supply in Culver City and St. Joseph Center's Culinary department in Venice, teaching amateur bakers to make birthday cakes, eclairs, quickbreads and much in between. But owners Clémence Gossett and Hadley Hughes just announced that they'll finally be opening their own school, Gourmandise School of Sweets and Savories, in February of next year at Santa Monica Place.

Hughes tells us, "We are ecstatic to open our own school! We are so grateful for the delicious opportunity to expand our business to a permanent location. At Santa Monica Place we can teach more classes and create a more expansive curriculum for our current and future students."

When asked what will change in their curriculum once the new school opens, Hughes explains, "As always, we will teach our delicious dessert classes in a warm and sweet environment, but we will also expand to offer savory classes, a larger selection of dessert classes and private workshops and seminars. Our new space also allows us to teach in depth classes of 4 hours or longer and give us a chance to host special events."

Students can view a complete list of classes at gourmandisedesserts.com/classes and can sign up online as well. They range in price from $65 to $200.
