Just in Time for Thanksgiving: The New Yorker's Food Issue

2010_11_22_p154.jpg
If you haven't checked your mailbox for the most recent New Yorker, you might want to. The November 22nd issue is the magazine's food issue, conveniently in time for Thanksgiving, the one day when most of us are even more obsessed with food than usual. Something to read while you're waiting for the turkey to come out of the oven, or if you hate football, or perhaps if you get bored watching the Patriots dismantle Detroit.

In this issue? Calvin Trillin on a New Orleans roadhouse. An ode to root vegetables. Eleanor Roosevelt's kitchen. A profile of Spotted Pig chef April Bloomfield. Burkhard Bilger on the joy of fermented food. Chang-rae Lee on an immigrant Thanksgiving. And a poem on turkeys by Philip Levine. Enough reading material even, perhaps, to distract Brad Childress from the television. Happy Thanksgiving.
