Dita Von Teese's Private Cointreau Coffret: Fancier Than Wine In A Box
Dita Von Teese launched her "My Private Cointreau Coffret" this past weekend. It's basically a pretty box with a couple of glasses, a pink shaker, and a bottle of Cointreau. After you drink the alcohol, you can use it as a jewelry box. It's super limited edition (500 in the world, 10 currently at Fred Segal, $299 each). Here are some observations from the launch:

1. Dita Von Teese moves like a cat.
Doesn't matter who she's talking to--men, women--she kind of sidles up to them and stands real close. Like, invade your personal space close. Not in a bad way, mind you. It's a sultry thing. Plus, she has fantastic posture.

2. Dita Von Teese is immune to foot pain.
"Oh, these? These are like sneakers to me," she said of her platform stilettos. (I asked if her shoes were painful.) They are from Brian Atwood. She'd been trying to track them down for a long time. She took them off in front of the crowd and wiggled her toes.

3. Dita Von Teese hides her love letters in the coffret's secret compartment.
The Cointreau Coffret has a secret compartment in the back. She said she hides love letters in there, both "received and unsent."

The secret compartment. Printed on the orange velvet, in gold ink, is the word "Curious."
4. Dita Von Teese's New Year's resolution is "to be more eccentric than last year."
Does it count if you have to resolve to do it?
