Flying Pig Truck Considers Legal Action Against Porn Makers

It was news to owner Joe Kim that his fusion taco truck (@flyingpigtruck), which has been operating for over a year and was recently featured on Oprah, served as the backdrop for a double-penetration scene starring Nikki Hunter.

What bothers Kim isn't the use of the physical truck in the film, it's the way the producers of The Flying Pink Pig have copied The Flying Pig's name and piggybacked on its popularity. "We can't do much about the appearance of the truck, but using the name, that was a really big blow," he says.

With only one word of variation between the truck's name and the movie's title, and logos that both feature a pink pig with wings, the real truck and the fictional truck bear a striking resemblance to each other.

Kim has consulted his lawyer about the XXX-taco debacle, hoping to curtail Cal Vista Pictures' use of the Flying Pig iconography before the movie is released on DVD in late January. (The movie is actually the first of a planned food truck porn trilogy.)

"I think these guys really wanted to take advantage of us. Not really telling us but really taking advantage of our name," Kim says.

According to Kim, who spends most of his time working in construction and leaves the day-to-day oversight of the Flying Pig truck to the truck's manager and field manager, "I was told by one of my ex-employees that this company wanted to use our truck as the background for their romantic movie."

He also says director Erica McLean's claims about how she secured the truck's usage -- that she saw Flying Pig on the road, pulled over and asked if she could use the truck in her film -- are a flat-out lie. "I saw the quote from the lady in the story but, that was not true! She did not just pull over and ask us," Kim says.

In the meantime, Kim is preparing to open the Flying Pig Café, a 50-seat eatery in Little Tokyo serving an expanded menu of the fusion tacos he serves on the truck. He expects to open by the end of February and hopes his inadvertent foray into the adult entertainment industry has doesn't the restaurant any harm.

If the reaction from the truck's Twitter fanbase is a marker, Kim may not have much to worry about. "The followers pretty much just keep saying: make sure you wipe down the truck."
