What's the country reading today food-wise? Here's a roundup of some of the food-related stories from other newspapers, many of which print their food sections mid-week. And remember, even if you don't actually buy papers these days (or not; this paper is free), it's where most of your content comes from. Surf away. Just remember that spilling your macchiato over your keyboard is a lot more expensive than spilling it across newsprint.

In the Los Angeles Times, S. Irene Virbila considers Sunday night restaurant dining; a profile of the women behind the as-yet-unopened Lindy & Grundy's butcher shop; and checking out the new Afghan restaurant Chili Chutney in Lake Forest.

The New York Times looks at the results of New York City's new restaurant letter grading system; home cooking, even organic home cooking, for your pets; and checking out 2008 Oregon pinot noir.

At the Chicago Sun-Times, a look at the at The Showgirl Diet; and rooting for winter vegetables.

Area chefs put their own spin on the Vietnamese noodle soup pho; and using hay (yes, hay) to smoke meats and other foods indoors, at The Washington Post.

At The Dallas Morning News, what the future Mrs. Tony Romo will be cooking for Super Bowl Sunday. (Yes, she eats; no, the Cowboys are not playing.)

Keeping New Year's Resolutions by going vegetarian; and how big pizza companies are making profits by making more than pizza, at The Denver Post.

At The Miami Herald, keeping the Mayan art of making chocolate alive in rural Guatemala.

The Boston Globe polls area chefs on what trends to expect in 2011; and a Q & A with sake expert Richard Auffrey.

Thanks for throwing in that last part. It's useful for those of us that follow the food world closely, but are oblivious about what is going on in the sports world, haha.
