January Roundup of L.A. Health Department Restaurant Closures

It's that time again ... to learn about all the lovely critters lurking in our city's restaurants and grocers. Worms were found in a Westwood McDonalds burger last month, the Beverly Hills Courier reported. Though it may just be another found a finger-in-my-chili scheme. What we do know for certain is what's written on the L.A. County Health Department's website each month: who has been shut down for vermin harborage, sewage, gross contamination of utensils, etc. Looks like Stephen King Burger (see list after the jump) is sticking to its horror roots...

Fogata Salvadorena: 5615 E Whittier Blvd., Los Angeles. Date Closed: January 25, 2011. Reason for Closure: Vermin harborage & vermin infestation.

Gourmet India Foods: 12260 Washington Blvd., Whittier. Date Closed: January 20, 2011. Reason for Closure: No Public Health License.

Great Western Steak&Hoagie Co.: 1720 Lincoln Blvd., Venice. Date Closed: January 13, 2011. Reason for Closure: No potable water supply or no hot water.

The Griffin: 3000 Los Feliz Blvd., Los Angeles. Date Closed: January 20, 2011. Date Reopened: January 22, 2011. Reason for Closure: Vermin harborage & vermin infestation.

The Gumbo Pot: 6333 W 3rd St., #312, Los Angeles. Date Closed: January 19, 2011. Date Reopened: January 21, 2011. Reason for Closure: Gross contamination of utensils/equipment; vermin harborage; and vermin infestation.
