Jack in the Box Launches Food Truck

Fast food chain Jack in the Box is hopping on the food truck trend, launching Jack's Munchie Mobile (@munchiemobile) -- not to be confused with L.A.'s own Munchie Machine (@munchiemachine1). Which of the four horsemen of the apocalypse is this? We've lost count.

The 34-foot-long truck debuts next Friday in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, where it will roam for the next month before heading to Orange County and Los Angeles, reports 10news.com.

What does this say about the food truck trend: That it's too legit to quit or that there are no more sharks to be jumped?

Known for its cheeky advertising campaigns, Jack in the Box's food truck is no different. Inspired by 1970s van art, one side of Jack's Mobile Machine is covered with an airbrushed painting of the company's eponymous bobble-headed mascot, wearing muscular armor and brandishing a lightning bolt torch while riding a tiger.

The truck is equipped with a soda machine, a grill, a fryer and all the necessary implements for employees to actually prepare food, but will customers bite when there are over 900 brick-and-mortar JITB locations in California?

I think it is a lightening-bolt spatula, not a torch. Spatula adds +1 awesomeness.

The primary contribution of places like Jack in the Box is to help decent folks avoid getting arrested for, er, exposure as we they try to hold it all the way home from a real restaurant or bar, searching in a panic for a dark side street or alley -- or a Jack in the Box -- for relief. So the natural question is, will the truck offer public relief?
