Minestraio Closes: Yet Another Restaurant To Come

Mondette reports that Minestraio has closed. The restaurant, which was located in the Orlando Hotel on 3rd Street and was La Terza in a previous incarnation, was owned and run by Gino Angelini (Angelini Osteria). Minestraio, a casual trattoria focusing on handmade pasta, opened almost exactly two years ago. Gino's wife and business partner Elizabeth Angelini said by phone that the restaurant closed February 28th and that the closing was because "it just wasn't a good business." They did not renew the lease. Reportedly the space will become yet another restaurant, probably American, some time this summer.

My only meal at Minestraio was fine, no better, and the dining room was totally lifeless. Too bad La Terza couldn't survive. That was actually a good restaurant with some buzz...for awhile. Whoever takes over this venue needs a killer concept. The space is big.
