Takami Sushi to Donate 100% of Profits to Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Victims

Yes, you read that headline correctly. For the foreseeable future, Takami in downtown Los Angeles will be donating 100% of its profits -- not 10% or 50% or some portion thereof but every penny of profit -- to the Red Cross Japanese Relief Fund.

Numerous employees of the restaurant, located on the upper floor of the elegant Wilshire building, have reportedly been personally affected by the recent earthquake and subsequent tsunami and are trying to do whatever they can to assist their home country. The donations will include all profits from lunch and dinner service, and it currently has no scheduled ending date. Eat well. Do good.

This is heartwarming. Although I would encourage the owners and staff of Takami to look into other humanitarian organizations as well. The American Red Cross has a relatively high administrative overhead and most donations meant to aid in the wake of specific natural disasters end up in the Red Cross' general fund, regardless of what 'fund' they were donated to. It's inspiring to see business owners stepping up and doing all that they can to help those in need and I hope that their selfless giving can do the most good possible in Japan.
