Culver City Korean barbecue spot Gyenari, next door to Rush Street, has closed. The space, known for cheap happy hours and not-so-cheap dinners, closed for renovations on April 11th. The restaurant updated its Facebook page:

"Dear friends - Gyenari will be closed this week for renovations (THIS IS GONNA BE BIG). We apologize for any inconvenience (TRUST US, YOU'RE WORTH IT). Check your daily Feed for tempting tastes of what's in store (CAUTION, THE DISH IS VERY HOT!)."

But it won't stay vacant for long: Moko, headed by Gyenari-owner Will Shin, Chris Heyman (Table 8, 8 oz.) and NYC-based chef Gary Robins, opens April 26th with a menu of Korean small plates, cocktails, soju and sake.

Samplings from the menu include market banchan; Asian pear and kholrabi salad with pea shoots; pan-fried duck and foie gras mandu pot stickers; grilled prawns with avocado and aji amarillo ssam jang; and japchae sweet potato glass noodles with kurobuta pork.
