Golden State Update: They're Not Opening in Culver City, Unless You Want Them To

Golden State

Unsubstantiated rumors can be fun, if they're funny rumors, or if they in turn generate some good feedback. Which is just what Golden State's Jason Bernstein would love to have from you, dear readers, about whether or not to locate a second burger palace in Culver City. Recent rumors had the Fairfax Avenue restaurant looking to open a location in the neighborhood. Which isn't true. At all. Yet. When we emailed him, Bernstein wrote this back:

Unfortunately we haven't locked any plans for expansion for Culver City at this time. It would be a great place for a Golden State though. It has a wonderful sense of community. That said, we would actually LOVE feedback from Squid Ink readers. We would appreciate knowing if residents of Culver City want us to become a part of their community or not. Maybe they can suggest a terrific location for us to look at...

Okay, then. Comment below. Most people we asked, like in the adjacent cubicles, were highly in favor of the location, because then they wouldn't have to drive over to West Hollywood in crap traffic. We could just walk.

Please come to Culver City! Driving sucks. I need your burgers within walking distance!

I've tried/love your burgers and work in Culver City. I promise to eat here on a regular basis until my cholesterol gets out of control.

I haven't had these burgers, but another arrival to the Culver City dining scene is always welcomed. Is there a place on Main St. that is vacating?

Make Washington Blvd. east of National the new food center.  Grab a spot near the new Coolhaus space!  Culver City says come on down!

Go East, dudes!  Glendale Blvd. in Atwater, maybe?  Or on Vermont in Los Feliz?  Sunset Blvd. in Echo Park?

Please come to Culver City, and feel free to try someplace other than Culver Blvd. At Commonwealth and Washington, maybe, where the sub shop used to be...

I think CC would be a perfect fit for you and your bacon cheeseburgers. Is the old Meltdown (on Culver Blvd.) location still available?

Yes yes yes! Golden State has a great burger, but if they bring their amazing staff with them I won't be able to resist.

Anywhere along Sepulveda or Helms seem to be the new culinary hot spots, but I agree with Nick. Find your niche and we will come to you.

There's a ton of new developments going in at the new metro stop, would be a great location between downtown and the east washington gallery scene.

I'd love to see Golden State in the Culver City/Palms area. I'd consider skipping downtown Culver City, however. Find your own pocket or join another one (Waterloo & City/A-Frame, n/naka/Chego/Scoops Westside, Bigfoot West/Saints & Sinners)

Larchmont Blvd. please...the street is under-served and much in need of exactly this kind of spot. If only there were a way around the ridiculous rules about the number of sit-down spots and liquor licenses...

A Golden State in Culver City would make my day

Golden State serves one of my favorite burgers and has a friendly, helpful staff. They should be welcome anywhere, especially if they can find a place with decent parking, unlike the current location. Getting closer to either Father's Office is also a great idea. They'll steal most of the customers, and the ones who stay with F.O. you wouldn't want, anyway.
