[Update, June 6, 2:43 p.m.: An earlier version of this post incorrectly stated that the Good Food Film Festival was co-sponsored by the KCRW radio show Good Food. It is not. Also, none of the filmmakers will be attending this event.]

Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Santa Monica Farmers Market, one of the best farmers markets in the city if not the country, at the Aero Theatre, which this Wednesday kicks off a once-a-month series of films about food. Sponsored by Slow Food LA and hosted by the American Cinematheque, the inaugural screening this Wednesday features a pair of documentaries about farming.

In the 27-minute Big River, Curt Ellis and Ian Cheney from the 2007 cornsploitation doc King Corn return to their native Iowa to explores farming practices in the state.

That's followed by The Greenhorns, in which director Severine von Tscharmer Fleming travels the country documenting the new generation of American farmers.
