Harry Potter Cocktails

Hermione Granger & Draco Malfoy would like a martini. Right now, please.
The grim reality that Hollywood has, at least temporarily, exhausted its source material for the Harry Potter books is setting in. What to do, what to do? Drown your sorrows in these clever cocktails devised by The Backyard Bartender, who has spent an admirable, and perhaps frightening, amount of time thinking about how to toast a Quidditch match or what to bring to a Slytherin frat party.

Backyard Bartender has taken the time to create specialized cocktails for most of the Harry Potter characters, and not just the main ones.

Sure, there's the very girlie Hermione Granger, made with pomegranate liqueur, grapefruit juice and sloe gin, and the awful-sounding Ron Weasley, a budding wizard's brew of of whiskey, brandy, Campari, sweet vermouth and OJ. If that's how they make party punch in Gryffindor, we're sneaking out to Slytherin. (On a sidenote: The fact that someone as smart and beautiful as Hermione ended up with a dipshit like Ron is, hands down, the grossest misstep in J.K. Rowling's ouevre.)

The Backyard Bartender has, however, gone dug deep in the Hogwarts playbook, concocting cocktails for supporting characters like Severus Snape, Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood.

We're partial to the Draco Malfoy, a variation on a dirty martini made with the juice of our very favorite grocery store pickle, Claussen. We didn't say it was good, just interesting. Now what's the Azkaban version of Pruno?

Loooveeee Harry Potter! Thank you so much for posting this!

BUT -- I think you need to work on your journalism skills because, while, Backyard Bartender had written ONE post last year on Harry Potter cocktails, she definitely *copied* some of the drinks from Harry Potter Mixology (written an entire month before -- when their series started) from Little Pink Blog.

If you look in the comments, even, of her "Even More Harry Potter Cocktails" someone else also called her out on her similarities: http://backyardbartender.blogs...

She's been called out for being 'inspired' for her Neville Longbottom drink from the other website, but personally, I think her Draco Malfoy is *nearly* identical.

Look at the date of that post -- JUNE, whereas Backyard Bartender is July 10th... and in the same comments of her site, she even admitted to 'seeing those' on Little Pink Blog.

I dunno -- but I think you should give proper credit where its due. Otherwise, you're just saying it's 'okay' for copycats to copy other people's creativity and claim it as their own.

If you think it's okay to feature copycats, then you should feature Little Pink Blog's "Harry Potter Mixology" because it's WAY better and ORIGINAL!

Oh, I dunno, I like Ron. But then I like Paul Giamatti too, to whom Ron has begun to bear a striking resemblance. Maybe if somebody drinks enough of these cocktails they'll tell me why Alfonso Cuarón didn't direct every one of the films.
