Guzzle & Nosh
The Hollywood, Calif. Chick-fil-A, circa August 4th, 2011.
Though it's still surrounded by a chain-link fence, the Chick-fil-A at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue is getting close to completion. Checking in (again) with the chief chickeneers at the company's HQ, we're told it's set for a mid- to late September opening. As soon as we have confirmation on an opening date, we'll let you know.

Why does everyone have to freaking believe in gay marriage?! Give a rest already. You can't eat here, you cant go there or you can't shop at Target. What gives? Also, why do businesses have to support something they don't believe in, it's there biz...don't go there....although you will be missing out. absolutely delish

I can't wait to see how the wholesome, conservative values of Chik-fil-A mesh with Hollywood ... from refusing to hire homosexuals in any role other than basic staff (you can SERVE me, minority, but you can't be in a power position!) to being closed on Sundays, not exactly a "day off" for Angelenos.  That said, I kinda love the taste of Chik-fil-A.

They're meshing pretty well so far, it looks like. As far as their hiring ethics and philosophy: your frustration isn't with them, it's with the beliefs that their policies are based upon. It's not an issue of legality because they're not breaking any laws. It seems that you're prescribing to the culturally-dictated idea that "what feels right must be right," and "anything that tells me that I am messed up or bad in any way is surely wrong and disgusting for saying such things." And re: Sundays: From my understanding, Chick fil A isn't trying to cater to Angelenos by shutting down. I doubt that any location across the country has a population that completely shuts down on Sunday. Rather, the choice is one the company has made to honor God. I don't think anyone in the organization would disagree with you that their choice to be closed is unpopular.

Do readers have any idea of the discriminatory, homophobic and aggressively anti-gay policies of this chain?  Isn't there a better place to spend our money?

Why don't you go spend your grimy money somewhere else. Go push your stupid agenda somewhere else. This is a great company and they are run very well. You can't wait to mess anything up that's any good. Why don't you take a long walk to China where you belong.

You mean they don't serve gay chickens?

Why did they paint it yellow?  It looks like the old Popeye's that was shut down in Boston.  They should have used an off-white color.

It's extremely possible that I'm making this up but I think there was a study that showed crime drops about 20-25% within a mile radius of a Chick-fil-a. Again, I'm not sure of my sources but I'm pretty sure it has to be true.

I can definitely put aside my affinity for supporting same-sex rights for a delicious chicken sandwich.

I hate their politics BUT the chicken is better than heroin!

Chick-fil-A has given sizable amounts of money to the following groups, all of which oppose civil rights for same-sex couples:

National Christian Foundation: $631,600Fellowship Of Christian Athletes: $480,000Serving Marriages, Inc.: $15,000Alliance Defense Fund: $5,000Christian Camp And Conference Association: $5,000Campus Crusade for Christ: $2,850Georgia Family Council: $2,000Family Research Council: $1,000These organizations all have intensely anti-gay standpoints, principles or mission statements.

Saying that all of those have "intensely anti-gay standpoints" is not only inaccurate, it is also a disgusting manipulation of information. I can't speak for all of the organizations, but I know FCA is not out to be "anti-gay." The group strives to bring Christian students together under the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is a message that says that all of humanity is corrupted and in need of a Savior; to reduce an entire religion to being "anti-gay" is to do very poor research and to enter incredible bias into the conversation.

A company that bravely follows values which cause discrimination against them AND has delicious chicken? Failing to see the problem...

I think opposing same-sex couples is pretty far down on the list for many of those organizations. That is like saying, contributing to Barak Obama is actually giving money to a person who opposes civil rights (he too is against gay marriage, as is Hilary Clinton).

I just paiid $ 22.89 for an iP a d 2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $ 38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $ 657 which only cost me $ 62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, http://bit.ly/qhZHAc
