Here are five alternatives to the numerous Oktoberfest-ivities happening this weekend.

Fried Cereal & PJ Party:
LA's perpetual retro kid Charles Phoenix will be prepping and serving up his latest recipe, Fried Cereal. A mix of Froot Loops, Trix, Apple Jacks, Honeycombs, Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms and Cap'n Crunch tossed and toasted in melted butter, it's meant to be eaten like popcorn. Pajama attire encouraged but not required.
When: 9 - 11 p.m., Saturday
Where: Big Kid Collectibles: 14109 Burbank Blvd., Sherman Oaks.

Un-Curry Table:

The Un-Curry Table:
Chef Kaumudi Marathe's pop-up returns, this time dishing out Indian summer cuisine. The menu is a secret but will include cooling green mango cocktail, platters of hot and cold passed appetizers, and a sumptuous, coursed dinner of regional delicacies. 30 spots only. book yours now.
When: 6:30 p.m., Saturday

Cost: $80 + $5 service charge; $15 corkage (tix here)

Cube Marketplace Warehouse Sale:
Cube throws open the doors of its warehouse for one of its periodic warehouse sales, which means discounts of 50-90% on gourmet treats like wine, Bolivian rose salt, artisanal spices and oils as wells as dishes, linens and garden goods.
When: Saturday, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Where: 550 Ceres Ave., downtown LA
Cost: free admission

Taste of Italy:
Last weekend it was L.A.'s Feast of San Gennaro. This weekend, it's the http://italianhall.org/site/ 3rd annual festival devoted to Italian food and culture. Several wineries and more than 50 restaurants, including Toscanova, Il Fornaio and Locanda Del Lago, will be on hand.
When: 4 - 10 p.m., Saturday
Where: Pico House
Cost: $50

dineLA:
The nearly two-week discount bonanza features 307 restaurants (full list here) offering specially priced three-course meals for lunch and/or dinner.: deluxe ($16, lunch/$26, dinner), premier ($22/$34) or fine dining ($28/$44).
