The spectacular closing weekend of the 2011 L.A. Beer Week features Far Bar hosting gold-medal winning Kern River Brewing Saturday, followed by the L.A. Beer Week Closing Festival featuring over 70 brewers at historic Union Station on Sunday, and then a drink-til-you-drop after-party is back at Far Bar Sunday afternoon and evening. Talk about a weekend for Angeleno beer fans to remember.

The grand finale starts Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Far Bar in Little Tokyo with a live band on the patio and the darlings of this year's ball, Kern River Brewing Company. The tight knit California craft community has united in a lovefest with the small brewer from Kernville. In a David slays Goliath moment, KRBC won the gold medal for their Citra Double IPA at the recent Great American Beer Festival. Humble brewer Kyle Smith has blown up into a rock star in the sizzling world of American craft beer. You can meet the man behind Citra, Just Outstanding IPA - which we just ranked the fourth best IPA in the world - Class V Stout, Golden Trout Pale Ale, and his seasonal offering, Pumpkin Ale at the very cool Far Bar in Little Tokyo and enjoy all five of these world-class beers.

Then Sunday, it's the main event of L.A.B.W: the 3rd Annual L.A. Beer Week Festival. Just 70-some brewers. No biggie. Food trucks? They'll be lined up at the curb as far as the eye can see (warning: this may be a slight exaggeration). For $45 you can get unlimited, let us repeat, unlimited four-ounce pours of delicious craft goodness. From there, you can either crawl to Far Bar for the after-party or take a train home.
