McDonald's much-loved McRib Sandwich returns today.
Rejoice, McRib lovers! Beginning today, the McRib sandwich, with its strange but undeniable sway over its devotees, returns to McDonald's restaurants in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties. Shaped to look like ribs and slathered in bright red BBQ sauce, the boneless pork patty will sell for $2.79 at most locations.

In case you care about such things, the McRib has 500 calories, 240 of which come from fat, and 980 mg of sodium. Still better for you than KFC's 680-calorie Cheesy Bacon Bowl.

You won't get as high. If they ever smoked these babies, it would be illegal.

I wonder if any local places offer the Platonic Ideal of McRib pseudo-Q? You'd think something like that would be featured in the LA Weekly, given the popularity of the McDonald's sandwich with the same audience. Or maybe the Weekly serves only the top 1% .... Hey, local restauranteurs, I know how to get your version in these pages. Call it MăcRêb.
