Julia Child and Jacques Pépin
Another day, another food website. This latest site, however, was not launched by a grandmother who likes to bake chocolate croissants in her Reseda kitchen, a university food policy center or even a vegan start-up, but PBS. Who, of course, had us at Jacques Pépin. PBS FOOD launched today. The new site, says PBS, gives users "the ability to easily search for the best of public television's local and national food content in one place." This includes happy things like José Andrés' Made In Spain cooking show, over 1700 searchable PBS recipes (from both local stations and national archives), classic episodes of favorite old PBS shows like Julia Child's Baking With Julia and Victory Garden.

If you want newer content, there's PBS's food blog Fresh Tastes; a regular feature called Kitchen Careers that profiles, you guessed it, careers in the kitchen; a chef's directory, which provides information on dozens of PBS chefs; and, of course, a handy shopping feature called SHOPPBS. The site will also host local PBS food blogs, websites and other content. A recipe for grilled peaches with ricotta. A video of Meryl Streep on Julia Child. Like we said, they're preaching to the converted. "Bon appétit!"

I love this.  PBS is now online.  I totally watch all these shows.  And the re-runs.
