Mirabelle Restaurant: 40th Anniversary Gala This Week
Mirabelle Restaurant is going all out to celebrate its 40th year in business on the Sunset Strip with live music, a red carpet and celebrities. But this won't be a party just for the sake of partying: Owner George Germanides is teaming with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and donating all the event's proceeds to the charity.
Expected celebrity guests for the Nov. 11 event include Lionel Richie, Halle Berry and Mario Lopez, and The Calloway Brothers will perform (former members of the 1980s funk band Midnight Star).
"The event serves two purposes, one to express thanks to the customers and two to help raise money for a good cause," Germanides said.
Lasting 40 years in the restaurant business is no easy task, though, but Germanides said signature dishes like homemade ravioli with lobster sauce, short ribs with barbecue rub sauce and 20-ounce ribeye steaks. And maybe a few other things that made his place lovable.
"My personality, my good food, good service that I dedicate to everybody in a warm [way] has kept me in business," Germanides added.
For the celebration, Germanides is planning on putting together a lengthy buffet of Mirabelle menu items, lots of liquor and a live orchestra (for when the funky Calloway Brothers aren't onstage). Germanides and his wife purchased the property on Sunset when it was a hot dog stand 40 years ago, but converted it into a mainstay on the strip by offering a homemade menu and, like he said, reliable service.
