Best Taiwanese Themed Sports Bar: The Indian Theme Restaurant

What's in a name? In this case, everything and nothing. Nicknamed "The Taiwanese Hooters," a bevy of waitresses clad in red tank tops, black shorts and Uggs sporting a feather in their hair cheerfully greet you in Mandarin upon entry. Faux Western in décor, with fake log tables, wolf skin and faux Native American art, the establishment formerly confusingly known simply as The Indian is kitschy, loud and boisterous.

Large screens on the walls are tuned to ESPN channels for football and basketball (in season), while stinky tofu, duck tongues, hot pots, pig intestine and much tamer food choices are consumed alongside copious amounts of Taiwan Beer. Great bar food, great atmosphere and figurehead and mascot, Uncle Yu, is on hand for photos or to give his trademark double thumbs up salute.

This is one of over 400 pieces in our most recent Best of L.A. issue. Check it out.
