Jonathan Gold + Adam Gopnik Discuss "Foodie Culture" Feb. 22
"Does foodie culture do anyone any good?" That's the substantial question that the Weekly's food critic Jonathan Gold and writer Adam Gopnik will discuss at Zócalo Public Square on Feb. 22. Tickets are free, but you'll want to make a reservation quick. Zócalo events -- especially with prominent speakers on hot topics -- are known to sell out.

According to the event description, "The United States, once a nation of lackluster cooking, has over the past three decades become a nation of people obsessed with food." Zócalo asks, "Good food tends to be enjoyable for those who eat it, but is it good for anything else?" Gopnik, a New Yorker staff writer, explores similar ideas in his recent book, The Table Comes First: Family, France, and the Meaning of Food.
