On Mondays, Musso & Frank Grill is usually closed. But next week, the Los Angeles Visionaries Association run by Richard Schave and Kim Cooper will take over the historic restaurant for the inaugural "Salon at Musso & Frank."

On Jan. 23, guests can pay $100 each for a three-course, prix-fixe dinner accompanied by presentations meant to explore Hollywood's literary lore. The son of novelist John Fante, Dan Fante will read from his recent memoir Fante: A Family's Legacy of Writing, Drinking and Surviving and lead a discussion about his father.

Fante was one of many prominent California writers to frequent Musso & Frank beginning in the mid-1930s. The restaurant was even dubbed "Algonquin West." To learn more about the restaurant's history and the salon event, visit the Weekly's Style Council arts blog.

Call (323) 467-7788 to reserve a spot, or send an email through the Musso & Frank website.
