Menu for CITY Night at Border Grill Announced

Earlier this week we told you about CITY Night at Border Grill -- a special event at which Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken will indulge the nostalgia of their 1980s glory days by serving a menu inspired by their first restaurant, City Cafe and its subsequent incarnation, CITY. Today, the menu was announced, and as was the case in their former kitchens, it crosses continents.

CITY Appetizers
(served family-style)

Chinese Sausage Salad
grilled Chinese sausage, red onion, celery leaves, chiles, garlic, kaffir lime leaves

Beef Carpaccio
cracked pepper-shallot vinaigrette, Parmesan, chives

Fried Sage Leaves
tomato salsa, tomatillo salsa

Roasted Red Peppers
feta cheese, basil, extra virgin olive oil

Lobster Bisque with Armagnac
herb sautéed croutons

CITY Salad
butter lettuce, carrot, cucumber, daikon radish, sesame vinaigrette

Stuffed Rigatoni
chicken fennel mousse, Parmesan cream

Lime Marinated Sea Scallops
thinly sliced sea scallops, finger lime, extra virgin olive oil

Potato Bhujia
spiced potato fritters, cilantro, mint chutney, yogurt sauce


CITY Large Plates
served with parsnip chips, carrot rutabaga puree and shredded Brussels sprouts

Grilled Baseball Steak
Madeira, gorgonzola, crispy potatoes

Portuguese Mussel and Cockle Stew
red, green and yellow bell peppers, kalamata olives, linguiça sausage, white port

Sautéed Halibut Cheeks with Tomato and Pernod
tomato concasse, snow peas, Pernod, homemade fettuccine

Braised Duck with Red Curry
grilled Japanese eggplant, scallion, basmati rice

CITY Indian Veg Plate
cauliflower pea curry, spicy coriander okra, homemade paneer cheese, daal, basmati rice, tamarind chutney, papadum, cucumber raita

Pan-Roasted Pork Chop
spaetzle, caraway cream sauce, sweet-and-sour red cabbage, fresh thyme vinaigrette

Spicy CITY Chicken
marinated grilled chicken, cilantro sauce, pickled tomatoes, basmati rice, grilled scallion


CITY Desserts

CITY Cupcake
bittersweet chocolate cupcake, vanilla bean pastry cream filling, dark chocolate ganache

Lemon Poppy Seed Cake
lemon ice cream

Almond Pithivier
cranberry pear compote, crème fraiche ice cream

CITY Chocolate
dark chocolate pate, rum-soaked raisins, espresso crème anglaise

Chewy Date Bar
golden oat crumble, caramel ice cream

As a reminder, CITY Night takes place at Border Grill's downtown location on Wed., Feb. 29. Diners can order a four-course prix fixe for $75 per person, or order a la carte in the restaurant's Cantina. Reservations are recommended.
